Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Doctor Tom Duncan, M.D. is a practicing Family P hysician and Army Veteran specializing in the treatment of Depression and Major Depressive Disorders, often without the use of psychotropic medication. He focuses on his patients as “complete individuals” and seeks the root cause of their symptoms rather than simply masking them with medications. In addition to his full time private practice, Dr Tom is a passionate speaker, devoted father and husband, and author. His book “Eliminating ANTS, Cants, and Buts: Breaking Through the Patterns of Depression” is due to be released in 2014. Dr. Tom grew up in rural Iowa as the 4th of 5 children. At 14 he moved with his family to Lakeview Arkansas where he got his first job as a bus boy to pay for clothing and school supplies. In school he excelled athletically. After high school he gained admission to Arkansas Tech University and a place on their redshirt NAIA football team. At ATU he developed the discipline and motivation to thrive on and off the field, and his senior year he was as Lambda Chi Alpha’s national 1st runner up Duke Flad recipient and awarded ROTC’s George C Marshall superior cadet national award. In 1988 he became the first member of his family to graduate from college. Immediately after college he began an active tour with the Army and was initially stationed in Germany. He watched the Berlin Wall fall before being deployed to Saudi Arabia. While in Kuwait several Artillery Vehicles stocked with ammo exploded near him. He was not seriously injured in the blast but in the aftermath he watched with awe as the army medical officers rushed in showing courage in the face of a horrifying accident. In that moment Tom Duncan decided to pursue medicine. Dr. Tom was able to be reassigned to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and late in the summer of 1992 he moved back to Arkansas to attend the University of Arkansas Medical School. Dr. Tom completed his residency in Family Medicine at Madigan Army medical Center in Fort Lewis Washington, and was later deployed to Korea. Dr. Tom awaited the birth of his first son from the border of the Demilitarized Zone. When he returned to the United States he struggled with severe depression and anxiety. After several years of pharmaceutical treatment he was not getting better. When he hit rock bottom he considered taking his own life. The reality of facing his own mortality in such a real way inspired Dr. Tom to completely overhaul his life. Not only did he see these patterns in his own life but also in thousands of clients that he saw annually. Therefore, he created the The Ulitmate Flow System through the that inspires people to break their chains of limiting beliefs so they may finally experience a life of their dreams. Just 2 years later he was healthy, happy, medication free and able to be the father, husband and Doctor that he wanted to be. He credits the support of his friends, family and counselor for saving his life.
